Baby-faced Rey Dorantes had a mug like a little angel, but several troubling Facebook photos suggest there was nothing angelic about his character.
On Friday, January 10, 2013, around 11:50 p.m., Dorantes, 14, was gunned down on the 2400 block of West Augusta Boulevard in Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood.
According to a local news report, the teen was talking on a cell phone when two gunmen unloaded a few rounds of ammunition in his chest... an estimated six shell casings were found near the crime scene.
Dorantes' friends claim he was a good kid who avoided trouble, but Dorantes' online profile indicates the Northwest Side teen was up-to-his-eyeballs in mischief.
One picture in the slain teen's profile shows him making a hand gesture that looks suspiciously like a gang sign. Other photographs document various scars on the teen's body; including a gash below one of his eyes and a nasty scar on the back of one of his hands.

Chicago News Report reached out to one of Dorantes' Facebook friends --- a self-described gang member ---- but he hasn't responded to our emails.
