Around 9:26 p.m., an attempted robbery was reported near the intersection of West Roscoe Street and North Seminary Avenue.
A male suspect grabbed a woman’s cell phone and the victim shot the offender in the face with a blast of pepper spray or mace, said police.
During the confrontation, the woman managed to get her cell phone back, but it was damaged in the process, said authorities.
The failed robber was described as a Hispanic man in his 20s, about 5’8”, and 200 pounds.
The suspect, whose hair was styled in a ponytail, was dressed in a black shirt and long, blue jean shorts.
