Victim’s screams thwart Rogers Park robbery

A woman’s screams were so loud, not only did her cries for help prompt a third party to dial 911, she apparently startled her mugger, too.

Around 3:51 a.m., a man tried to rob a woman on the 6500 block of North Greenview Avenue in Chicago’s Far North Side Rogers Park neighborhood, said police.

Authorities said when the woman screamed, the offender ran away without any proceeds.

Because the victim never saw the suspect’s face, we believe the criminal must have approached the woman from behind.

While there are few details regarding the crook’s description, investigators said the mugger has an average height and build, and he was wearing a dark-colored, hooded sweatshirt.

The offender fled the scene in a black SUV and was last seen driving westbound on Albion; presumably, from Greenview Avenue.
