Uptown: Woman’s necklace snatched on CTA Red Line

A woman was robbed of her jewelry when a man snatched her necklace on a CTA Red Line train in Uptown, said police.

The theft occurred around 1:43 a.m. at the Wilson “L” stop at 4620 North Broadway, on the city’s North Side.

A black male offender grabbed the victim’s necklace, hopped off the train at Wilson, and exited the station on Broadway, said police

The thief, who is believed to be in his 30s, has a light complexion and a thin build. He was wearing a white polo shirt with red stripes and a white hat.

Citing police communications, around 2:05 a.m., an officer spotted someone matching the offender’s description run inside Lawrence House at 1020 West Lawrence Avenue.

As of 2:21 a.m., it was unclear if authorities made contact with the possible suspect.
