On Monday, August 13, 2012, around 10 a.m., Gardner's body was discovered in a seventh-floor hotel room at The Whitehall Hotel, 105 East Delaware Place.
Approximately seven hours before the Texas woman's death was reported, a guest at the hotel heard what sounded like gunshots, said the Chicago Tribune.
The victim, whose last known residence was in Duncanville, Texas, was shot in the head, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
About a month before Gardner's brutal demise, Dallas police charged her with fare evasion, otherwise known as a theft of services.
Apparently, Gardner failed to provide proof she paid her $2 bus fare... which brings us to a very important question... If Gardner couldn't pay 2 bucks to ride the bus, what was she doing in a 200-dollar-a-night hotel room?
CNR has a hunch this crime may be related to prostitution or drugs.
