
The incident, described as a possible criminal sexual assault or rape, occurred on the 3500 block of North Lake Shore Drive, between Brompton and Cornelia Avenues, around 3 a.m.
The first 911 call, which was placed at approximately 3:05 a.m., indicated a man and woman were fighting outside 3520 North Lake Shore Drive.
Six minutes later, a subsequent emergency call stated the woman was possibly sexually assaulted and several citizens were restraining a male offender.
At 3:12 a.m., responding officers placed the suspect under arrest and immediately requested an ambulance for the female victim.
According to investigators, evidence of an alleged crime was found at the scene.
