Friday, around 2:47 a.m., a 911 caller heard a woman screaming for help near the intersection of West Waveland and North Bosworth Avenues.
According to police dispatch reports, the complainant saw a male in a baseball cap following the woman.
After interviewing the victim, authorities said the woman was walking home when the offender tried to sexual assault her near the corner of Waveland and Janssen.
The suspect, whom we've dubbed the Waveland Avenue rapist, was described as a male black or Hispanic with a crew cut, approximately 27-year-old, and about 5'7".
No further details are available.
