
Around 10:49 p.m., shots were fired on the 1300 block of North Burling Street -- a block east of North Halsted Street.
Two groups of black males, one in a gray or silver Caprice and another in a gold Impala, fired multiple gunshots from their vehicles, said police.
Authorities said the gunmen were aiming at each other.
According to investigators, the Near North Side gun battle started on the 700 block of West Scott Street.
At 11:32 p.m., Northwestern Memorial Hospital received a patient suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
The shooting victim said he was shot near the intersection of Halsted and Clybourn, according to police communications.
An officer involved in the investigation said the patient refused to discuss the details of his shooting... however, other officers who claim to be familiar with the patient, said he is known to drive a gold Impala.
