‘Crying’ woman robbed in Lakeview

A woman found crying on the street was mugged in Chicago’s North Side Lakeview neighborhood, said police.

Investigators said when a passerby asked the woman what was wrong, she said she was robbed.

According to authorities, the victim was held up at gunpoint on the 1000 block of West Oakdale Avenue, between Sheffield and Seminary, around 12:43 a.m.

The gunman was described as a skinny black male wearing a white, long-sleeved shirt.

The assailant, who stands about 5’11”, displayed a stainless steel handgun and stole the victim’s purses, wallets, and her Blackberry cell phone, said police.

After the robbery, the crook fled southbound on an unspecified street.

No further details are available.
