Around 12:40 a.m., a Chicago Streets and Sanitation employee witnessed what he believed was a robbery on the lower level of North Michigan Avenue and East Illinois Street, according to police dispatch reports.
The city worker saw a black male and a black female going through a white male’s pockets, said police.
The male suspect was wearing an Irish-green colored shirt and he was carrying a black backpack.
The female offender was wearing white or light-colored short pants.
When the incident was over, the suspects ran westbound on Illinois, and the victim fled eastbound on the same street, said police.
Authorities searched the area for several minutes, but they never found the so-called offenders or the purported victim.
As of 1:41 a.m., there was no indication anyone, other than the city worker, called to report a robbery at Michigan and Illinois.
