42-year-old Stanton Howard, a middle-age man who apparently keeps stuffed animals in his room, has been charged with animal cruelty, said police.
Tuesday, around 2 a.m., police were called to Howard's Humboldt Park neighborhood home on the 1300 block of North Rockwell Street after neighbors reported a trail of blood leading to his door, reports the Chicago Tribune.
Investigators said Howard dragged an 11-week-old, black and white pit bull puppy down the sidewalk, because he was teaching the dog how to walk.
It's unclear if Howard's parents used the same brutal technique while teaching him to take his first steps.

| Based on news accounts, this black and white pup is probably the same dog that was injured. |
The battered pup, whose injuries were non-life threatening, along with another puppy believed to be from the same litter, was removed from Howard's residence.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the animals will not be euthanized... we guess that includes Howard, as well.
On Facebook, the 42-year-old apparent psychopath listed his relationship status as separated.
All we can say is... may the universe have mercy on any woman who is foolishness enough to hitch her wagon to this so-called man.
