A man fell from a balcony or a fire escape in Chicago’s Clybourn Corridor, Lincoln Park neighborhood, said police.

The incident occurred at a 3-story building at 1611 North Sheffield Avenue, near Sheffield and North Avenues, around 3:30 a.m.

It’s unclear which floor the man fell from, but a responding officer said the victim was conscious and may have sustained a fractured hip.

Investigators said a large portion of the balcony or fire escape collapsed and tumbled into an alley behind the building.

At 4:06 a.m., officers contacted a city building inspector.

Citing preliminary reports, the victim was transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital.
