Sunday, police and firefighters responded to a fire at an Edgewater neighborhood high rise on Chicago’s North Side.

According to police dispatch, a fire erupted on the 51st floor of the Park Tower Condominiums at 5415 North Sheridan Road, near Sheridan and Balmoral Avenue, around 8:14 p.m.

Preliminary reports indicated the fire started inside a bedroom.

According to fire officials, an occupant inside the condo unit sustained minor injuries due to smoke inhalation.

While firefighters worked the scene, police temporarily blocked the intersections of Sheridan and Catalpa and Sheridan and Berwyn.

At approximately 8:32 p.m., CTA buses normally traveling in the vicinity of the fire, were momentarily rerouted to Lake Shore Drive, said police.

If more details become available, this article will be updated accordingly.
