When an innocent CTA passenger became the latest victim of the city’s seemingly rampant mass transit crime - he fought back.

At approximately 8:25 p.m., a CTA customer at the Jackson/State Red Line subway had his pocket picked by a thief. When the victim realized what happened, he began to fight with the crook.

Multiple CTA passengers reported the incident to the 911.

The victim was described a white man wearing a blue sweater. The offender was described as a short, heavy-set black man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black jeans.

After the robbery, the thief exited the subway and fled southbound on State Street from 230 South State.

No further details are available.
