Uptown: Man Shot at Wilson and Malden

UPDATE  At 1 a.m., a citizen reported hearing shots fired near the corner of West Wilson Ave. and North Malden Street, in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood.

Three minutes later, police were notified that a man believed to be in his twenties, was shot on the 4500 block of North Malden Street (Wilson and Malden).

An ambulance was immediately called to the scene.

Apparently, the man was inside his apartment when he was shot. Two windows in the man's home were struck by bullets.

The shooting victim was shot in the leg. And according to police, he was taken to Illinois Masonic in good condition. The victim was not being cooperative, said one officer on the scene.

At 3:17 a.m., officers in the area heard more gunshots - this time,  in the vicinity of Wilson and Broadway. Several 911 callers also reported hearing gunshots in the area.

At 3:23 a.m., police announced that they couldn't locate a shooting victim or a shooter.

NOTE: Even though Uptown Update is calling this a gang related shooting, Chicago News Report has no information to back up that claim. In fact, based on the shooting victim's information, which we withheld from this article, we seriously doubt that the man who was shot, has any gang affiliations. Although, anything is possible.

If the complainant was being uncooperative with the police,  he may have been too afraid to assist the officers in their investigation.
